Mango party!

For over a month, half of my department was transformed into a bunch of genetics course takers, instead of graduate students - every free minute was spent on frantic assignment problem-solving....some of us boldly venturing into unexplored (by us) areas of our institute, such as the library...
The shock was evident on most other students' faces....biology students, actually scribbling on sheets of paper, pretending to think?!
Some even wanted to know if a big exam was coming up....possibly the only reason us bio students would be reading instead of stabbing mice and mating flies (which seems to be the general perception of what biologists here do).

Now that this course is finally done with, we're celebrating!
What's best, the celebration is sponsored by the course co-ordinator.....we're going to have a mango party, with mangoes, ice-cream, pepsi and beer! The mangoes were just an excuse to have chilled beer on a warm saturday evening, if you ask me...;)
I'm not complaining!

Tangent: Tolerant of my cribbing about his annoying lift manners (such as pressing the buttons repeatedly) all through the walk home from the car last night, my dad casually mentioned that he had been to a book fair, and bought a(nother) map of bombay, and he wanted me to check it out. I peeped into the bag, to find four general knowledge books and two Enid Blyton novels he had bought for my cousins, and The Essential Calvin and Hobbes for me! :D

My daddy best! ever!
Don't you just love random gifts?

Updates on the canteen boy in my next post....

This community bestship!

My brother finally copied Monty Python and The Quest for the Holy grail from a friend yesterday, and I couldn't resist the urge to watch atleast a few of my favourite scenes again.

So I fast-forwarded my way through the entire first half, and watched about half an hour's worth of tummy-clutching dialogues and ridiculous situations.

It is still my favourite movie- the funniest movie ever.

To all those who disagree:

Ni!

An unrelated, almost ironic bit of the web I stumbled upon while looking at how people find my blog...
Somebody apparently did a google search for "kate tifr" and found my blog. This is the second link on that google search page.
No offence meant to the other party involved in the joke, but I just died laughing when i checked it out.

Imagine if he had actually taken up the position he was shortlisted for!

more unrelated stuff - new spam in today:

Palghar trip

Here are some snaps from my trip to Palghar beach with my batchmates..

Boom!

After all the hyperventilating over the treasure hunt, it looks like i might not attend it at all....as I was saying to another friend, the whole world has descended upon Bombay this weekend, and they all want to hang out with me.
Ordinarily i wouldn't complain about having a social life, but its kinda hard to get through the weekend without offending anyone.

Roswitha arrived a couple of days ago, and I haven't met her yet. SUCKS!
I will be meeting her tomorrow night at Ram and Bolli's treat, but its not enough.

Mitli Miss arrived from Singapore today, and i don't even have a contact no. If you're reading this, Miss, call me!

The Archster arrives the day after tomorrow, and I've promised to hang out with her too. Don't ask me when.

Not to be forgotten, my radioactive reagent arrives tonight, and I need to do experiments before the label dies out. Aargh!

*bursts*

:(

I want a Time-turner!

and yeah, before I forget, Happy new year to me! (and the 37 other tulu brahmins out there)

Currently listening to:
Naam hain tera
Tera Surroor
Humkoo Deewaaaana karrrr gaye
Soniyeeee
It's an infestation!
Why doesn't Himesh Reshammiya get nasal polyps already!?

Treasure hunt!

The last highly anticipated hostel event is finally here - a little birdie told me that the treasure hunt is scheduled for next saturday!

all i have to say about that is :-

yippie yay!

The annual hostel events have been a lot of fun this year, especially the sports (I only attended the badminton and table tennis tournaments), auction and of course, the quiz!

In other unrelated news, I'm heading off to Murud-Janjira and Kashid for the weekend. Envy Me! :)

More unrelated stuff: I really like the gujarati rap song Blood Brothers by Karmacy...strange sounding, yet addictive.
I know, I know....gujju rap? Give it a listen....don't let images of devang patel ruin it all for you..:P

Comment moderation

Many people have been asking me to turn on comment moderation for my blog, or atleast delete the 'offensive' comments left all over.

I don't believe that comment moderation is the solution to this problem, so i'm not going to do so. Plus, its too much work.

From now on, I'm just going to delete any comment that has nothing to do with the post.

Any personal attacks, critisicm about my body type, vices, etc can be mailed to me, instead of being regurgitated all over my blog.

The anonymous commenting option was left open to allow lazy friends to leave comments without having to create a blogger account.

An alternative career option...

....that doesn't exist for me:

Auctioneer !

Go figure.
